Course Unit Description
Digital and Virtual Engineering are important requirements for Industrie 4.0. Virtual engineering methods and tools can be used to integrate the digital description, modeling, simulation and optimization of a product throughout its entire life cycle. Users of equipment and systems can be trained at an early stage on virtual models. This drastically reduces development times, costs, and risks. This lesson includes, among other topics, secure access and control with the Digital Twin, nearly real-time Twin-in-the-Loop (TiL) and real camera stream split-screen of the industrial plant (robot, automation-units, production-lines, 3D-Printer etc...).
Content of this lesson/What you’ll learn:
  • Why Digital and Virtual Engineering is important for Industrie 4.0
  • Definition of CAx process chain
  • What MBSE is and how to use it
  • What are EBOM and MBOM
Exercises
  1. Create CAD-BOM (assembly consists of components)
  2. Derive MBOM from CAD-BOM (which process steps)
  3. Rebuild digital twin with MBSE (with Four Pillars of SysML)
